Arboretum Adventures - Interview with UTD student Kasey Chinn

Introduction

This blog post will interview Kasey Chinn, an undergraduate student attending the University of Texas at Dallas, about her thoughts on her Arboretum experience after buying a discount ticket from the Comet Center.

Questions

“What did you think about the cost to visit The Arboretum with your UTD student discount?”

Kasey: “The discount was not enough to make a huge difference between the student price and the regular adult price. However, it was nice to be able to save any amount of money so I was grateful we were able to take advantage of the discount and experience The Arboretum at a fairly reasonable price.”

“How would you describe your Dallas Arboretum experience?”

Kasey: “It was an overall pleasant experience in that it was nice change of environment from the usual on-campus scene. The grounds were well-kept, and most of the plants looked like they were taken care of and healthy. It was nice to see the variety and enjoy the relaxed environment, as well as see that the Fall theme was present in many places. There were attractive features for all ages, such as a pumpkin house for children to play in or the other areas for adults to take pictures.”

“When you walked into the Arboretum, what was the first thing you noticed?”

Kasey: “I noticed the sidewalk and the way it was lined with hundreds of pumpkins. The whole environment was very much about nature, even down to the ticket booths that appeared to be carved into rock.”

“What did you think of the Arboretum’s Fall theme, which included pumpkins, a pumpkin house, teepees, etc.?”

Kasey: “The Fall theme was festive and appropriate for the time of year and I enjoyed the decorations. It made me think that if I were to return to The Arboretum it wouldn't be just the same experience, but I could enjoy it again.”

Kasey Chinn viewed her Arboretum experience as only slightly cost efficient, overall enjoyable, thorough in the Fall theme, and a place that could be visited again.
